SacCommunityGardens.org GREEN SPACES: community gardens without the veggies

SACGC is working on 2 neighborhood small parks or parklets. They will be true Community Gardens in the sense that the Community will tend the garden; but these small unused City pieces of right of way (1/4 acres of less) will not have vegetables on them. They will be Urban Green Spaces or small botanical gardens maintained by the neighbors. California native plants will occupy the sites. Low water use and drought tolerant plants will create the xerioscape.

This project was made possible through a grant from the Sacramento Tree Foundation and the Sierra Club. We are hoping to also work with the California Native Plant Society and the City of Sacramento and Art in Public Places to create an urban oasis in the Del Paso Heights / Hagginwood area of Sacramento.

Watch for more photos and info as we progress on this project.
